The First Era: Foundation & Inception
After migrating from India, in Pakistan, Qibla Shah Mufti Muhammad Mehmood Alwari(r.a.) homed at Hyderabad Sind. While the time of division of India, he was aware of the condition of Muslims, their unawareness to religious laws and specially the negligence of ahle. sunnat people from their particular religious faith. This gave him a strong feeling to establish such an institution which would be a blessing for the people of Hyderabad as well as for the knowledge seekers from anywhere of the world and would provide assistance to whomever want to understand or embrace Islam.

Therefore, to accomplish heart deep desire and to gain spiritual love of his saint (MurshideAla) a close disciple and an industrialist Haji Mehboob llahi (owner of Sindh Tanneries) spent from his own pocket and built a beautiful and quite a specious Mosque in the best locality of Hirabad, Hyderabad. With a building on three sides of it providing rooms for classes and residence of the students. There the great educational institution was established by the name of Ruknul-Islam
Since, Qibla Shah Mufti Muhammad Mehmood Alwari(r.a.) had a complete authority on both the fields of knowledge i.e. Zahir o Batin(from the books and the Spiritual) he was managing tutorials of both the fields in Jamia Mujaddidya Ruknul-Islam. For the education of Zahir (Books) he provided the best teaching staff such as Maulana Jane Aalam(r.a.), Maulana Essa(r.a.), Allama Qari Abdul Razzaque(r.a.), master of dialect and debate Allama Ashraf syalvi (damat barkatuhum alia), Qari Muhammad Tufail(r.a.) for the satisfaction of students. And, before the start of lessons he used to give such an un-expressible spiritual doses which were brightening the minds of teachers and when the teachers teach the students every thing was going down their hearts.
"I use to come to the institute an hour earlier of the class time, just to sit in his company. It appears as if knowledge of the heavens drops out from his virtuous face and existence"
This being the reason when the prominent scholars visit Ruknul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya they used to get so much impress from the teachers educational abilities and students manners and interest that they accept and express the beneficences of Qibla Mufti Sahab (r.a.) and prays in good worlds for the development and long life of Ruknul Islam. As an example, few extracts from a long list are been given hereunder.
"Today the 22nd of May 1963 Wednesday I got the honor of visiting Ruknul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya, I met with the teachers and the students. The teachers are capable and hard working, the students are also sincere and hard working. I appreciate the best administration, quality work of teachers and student. In fact this is the spiritual influence of Alhaj Mufti Muhammad Mehmood Alwari Naqshbandi, May Allah promote and develop Darul Uloom Ruknul Islam and save it from the evil of jealous, Ameen"
"I the full of sins(word of curtsy) visited the virtuous institution, met the teachers and students and found them in full knowledge of Ulom-e-Shariyah (learning of the divine law), Uloom-e-Aqliya (learning of wisdom) and Tajweed-e-kalamullah (research on the Holy Quran). I observed few lessons from some students, Alhamdo-lillah found all of them alert and desirous of learning, much better than the students of many other institutions. I pray to Allah almighty for the existence and consistence of this center of education until the Moon and Stars exist. May Allah promote its progress (Ameen)"
"Today, Thursday the 18th of Moharramul Haram 1385 Hijra, this worthless (word of curtsy) writer of these verses presented himself in Darul Uloom Ruknul Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya and is very pleased to see its so wonderfully administered and organized. I found the learned teachers busy in teaching and training the students. In fact all of this is the spiritual influence and benefit of Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Mehmood Alwari(madda zilla alia)."
The Second Era: Educational Expansion & Modern Dimension
Hazrat Qibla Dr. Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair
While in the time of Qibla Mufti sahib(r.a.), Qibla Dr. Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair sahib took the responsibility of administration and management of Jamia Rukn-ul-Islam. Since Sahabzada sahib has full command over the traditional education as well as modern education and was fully aware of its importance. He introduced new dimensions of education to the incoming students.
Therefore he established Oriental College, so that the students of Dars-e-Nizami could appear in the examinations held by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad for Molvi Arabi, Alim and Fazil and also could appear in Matric and FA examinations, so that, they may better serve the religious cause in the society. Similarly, in line with the demand of time he started Institute of Typing and Shorthand so that students can learn this technique also. Along with he activated and revitalized the Ruknul-Islam Primary and Middle School and open new branches within the city and in the outskirts.
This being the reason that when great muslim Scholar Allama Doctor Tahirul Qadri, (damat barkauhum alia), visited Ruknul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya and noticed the unique combination of traditional and modern education he expressed his pleasure in these words:
"today, the 28th. September 1987, Monday, I have the honor to visit Rukn-ul-Islam Jamia Mujaddidya_ Hyderabad and Alhamdo lilah felt great pleasure in seeing the administration and management, combination of old and modern education, and remarkable behavior of the learned teachers. And specially the enthusiastic efforts and devotion of Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair alwari towards the faith (maslak). May Allah with the reference of his beloved Prophet (pbuh) grant success to this Institution and award His special blessings. Ameen"
"I loved this Darul Uloom without even seeing it but after seeing it my love and belief has increased further. Though Hazrat Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair Sahib is young but his administration and organizational skills are as of an experienced man, I understand this is all about his father Hazrat Allama Mufti Muhammad Mehmood's spiritual blessings Darul Uloom by all respects (traditional and modern education) bears a central status,"
Qibla Sahabzada Sahib had raised the standard of education of Jamiah to the point where University of Sind declared Ruknul-Islam's Shahadat-ul-_ Aalya(Degree) equal to B.A. and Shahadat-ul-Aalmya(Degree) to M.A. So that now students can easily obtain admissions in M.Phill. and Ph.D. classes.
The Third Era: Global Academic Renaissance & Al-Azhar Equivalence
Sahabzada Dr. Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari
Now, when Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood al-Azhari and his younger brother Sahabzada Faiz Mehmood Al Azhari both sons of Hazrat Qibla Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair sahib have resumed the responsibility of looking after the administration and educational activities. They, like their ancestors helped improving the rise of the Rukn-ul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya.
Specially after studying for two years in Jamiah al-Azhar, Egypt, Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood when returned home with a lot of experience from their learned Egyptian teachers, revised the course of education in Jamiah and introduced the latest books in use at al-Azhar. Side by side, took the most benefit from the course of Dars-e-Nizami prepared by notable scholars and maintained his attention on the basic subjects compulsorily required in all times.
Since he has passed English and Arabic courses from the renowned University of Asia i.e. National Language University (NUML) Islamabad, so along with Arabic language he paid special attention to English department of the Jamiah, by hiring highly qualified professors. Similarly, on the subjects of Science and Economics he himself delivered the lectures and mitigated the wrong feeling that western subjects are not in line with Quran and Sunnah. Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood also paid special attention on the discipline and hired the services of a retired army personal.
In consideration of education level of Rukn-ul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya, the best and highest University of Islam Jamiah al-Azhar, Egypt, not only recognizes our Degrees but also sanctions scholarships to our students for getting higher education there.
After affiliation with the University of Sindh and Jamiah al-Azhar, Egypt the Shah Latif University Government of Pakistan, considering the educational standard of the Rukn-ul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya issued a notification that Shahadatul Alya of Ruknul Islam is equal to Β.Α.
On the other hand, his younger brother Sahabzada Faiz Mehmood al-Azhari having been completed modern and traditional education passed Masters in Information Technology (IT) produced a beautiful combination of Computer Science and traditional Arabic education. When this combination is applied on the students of Jamia Mujaddidya brought the revolutionary change in the educational culture of the Jamiah. Now the students of Jamia Mujaddidya are experts in the field of Tafseer, Fiqah and Computer, with this kind of training these students have great opportunities of jobs in different fields of life. Alhamdo lillah many such scholars are rendering their best services in different departments of Jamiah Mujaddidya.
Allama Ashraf sayalvi attended the convocation (Dastar-e-Fazilat ceremony) of 2005. Following the ceremony, next day Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood requested him to visit Jamiah. Allama sahib said that he had been teaching in this institution for quite long and every thing is in his notice so what is new to see. But on the insistence of Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood he very kindly visited the Jamiah and observed the building modifications, new Faculty Departments and modern form of education and the literal conversation of Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood expressed his delight in these words.
"I served teaching in Ruknul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya during 1970. And now in 2005 I got a chance to visit and felt heart bound pleasure in seeing building modifications, new faculty Departments and modern form of education. Allah the Great with reference to His beloveds may give long life to Sahabzada Abul-khair Muhammad Zubair Alwari Mujaddadi and his sons who are expert in traditional and modern education. And may give them the source to accomplish their high profile plans for spreading their faith and may grow this institution to the heights day by day rather moment by moment. Also He may keep it (Jamiah) a center and source of education, piety and training. Ameen"
Similarly, well known Syrian scholar and spiritual personality Dr. Mohiuddin Meqree when observed the exclusive and prominent features of Ruknul-Islam Jamiah Mujaddidya expressed his views in these words:
"I saw here some thing which I did not see in any other Institution". He went on saying, "Why not the quality administration and perfection and modem approach of education would be here as it is being patronized by prominent scholar Dr. Sahabzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, and administrated by his son and spiritual successor Sahabzada Uzair Mehmood al-Azhari, whose intellect is evident."
Further, when the prominent scholar of Islamic world Ex-Minister Kuwait Al-Sheikh Syed Yousuf Hashim Al Rifai, known Qari of Egypt Al-Sheikh Syed Mutawali and the known poet and expert of Uloom-e-Aqlia and Naqlia (Knowledge of Logic and anecdote) Peer Naseerud-din Naseer noticed the glory of Ruknul Islam and selfless efforts of Qibla Sahibzada Sahib and his sahibzadgan (sons), their love and affection became another topic.
