Dr. Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari’s Talk on the Importance of Training

Dr. Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari
(President, Ruknul Islam Educational Society & President, The World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates Pakistan)
addressed a training session at Jamia Saleem Hanfia, Alamgir Masjid, Karachi, speaking on the crucial topic of “The Importance of Training.”

In his address, Dr. Uzair highlighted that a serious lack of proper training is one of the major challenges of our time. He advised the teachers and students of his institution to always remember: If there is a shortfall in your knowledge — for example, in grammar, jurisprudence, or other academic subjects — it may be tolerated and can be improved over time. But if there is a shortfall in your training and character-building, that cannot be tolerated.

He emphasised that knowledge must always be accompanied by proper training, because if there is a gap in training, then knowledge alone will not benefit a person. On the other hand, if someone’s knowledge is limited but their training and moral character are strong, that training will cover the gaps and lead them to success.

Explaining the broader meaning of training, Dr. Uzair said that training is not just about superficial respect, like kissing the teacher’s hands or standing up in respect. True training begins with one’s thoughts, intentions, and mindset. It shapes how you speak, how you sit and stand, how you engage in discussion — and even how you disagree respectfully.

He reminded the audience that this process must begin in the institution but should not end there — it should spread to one’s home, neighbourhood, and the wider society, lighting up the world through the beautiful reflection of good manners, noble character, and positive conduct.
