Theology of Tribulation & Faith Resilience by Dr. Sahibzada Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari
(President: World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates – Pakistan Branch; Member: Council of Islamic Ideology)
During a candid press interaction, journalists posed a poignant question echoing through many grieving hearts: "In the face of widespread oppression, distress, and persistent hardships, why does it feel like Allah’s help is delayed? Why isn’t victory arriving immediately?" In this deeply comforting and intellectually rigorous address, Dr. Uzair Mahmood Al-Azhari dispels misunderstandings, explaining the divine dynamics of divine aid (Nasrullah) and tribulation.
The Nature of Worldly Tribulation (Bala')
The world was never designed as an arena of final reward; it is an examination hall. Dr. Uzair reminds us that the noble Prophets and righteous companions experienced immense agony—to the point where even the Messengers cried: "When is the help of Allah?" (Al-Baqarah: 214). Delay is not denial; it is spiritual forging.
Why Divine Assistance Appears Delayed:
- Testing Sincerity and Refining Character: Tribulation separates genuine steadfast believers from fair-weather claimants, burning away pride and complacency.
- Fulfilling Divine Conditions for Victory: Allah promises aid to those who aid His cause through self-rectification, unity, and justice: "If you support Allah, He will support you" (Muhammad: 7).
- Divine Timing and Grand Wisdom: Human beings evaluate events within the narrow lens of moments; the Almighty governs creation through infinite wisdom spanning generations.
- The Answered Supplication Takes Multiple Forms: Divine response may avert a greater concealed harm or be reserved as eternal elevation in the Hereafter.
Conclusion:
Despair is a weapon of Satan. When the night is at its darkest, dawn is nearest. Clinging to patience (Sabr), constructive action, and unwavering trust in Allah unlocks the gates of divine assistance. May Allah grant patience to the suffering and send His swift victory. Ameen.
